Regrinding and Recoating an Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Floor
An aircraft maintenance operator, Tuas South
Challenge
A hangar floor used for line maintenance had a worn, pitted epoxy surface that was shedding dust under towed equipment and jack stands. The bay could only be shut for a short weekend window between aircraft rotations, and the new finish had to bond to an old, mechanically abraded epoxy substrate.
Result
The bay returned to service on schedule with a smooth, dust-free surface able to take jack stand point loads.
How it was done
The crew mechanically prepared the slab and applied Sparco Epoxy Bonding Primer #100 to seal the abraded surface, followed by a Sparcofloor SL 200 self-smoothing epoxy build coat to restore a flat, chemical-resistant deck.
